What is the reason for R' Yoḥanan’s difficulty? All parts of the verse cited above are necessary, except for the expression “on oxen,” which is not necessary. The Talmud clarifies: For what purpose are all the other words necessary? As, if the Torah had written only “on oxen,” I might have said tha
